The category

There was no such thing as a resignation consultant. That was the problem.

India’s workforce is carrying record workplace stress, complex statutory notice rules and a deepening culture problem. What it has never had is a dedicated professional practice for leaving a job well.

The gap

Fragments of the process existed. None of them owned it.

Parts of a resignation are covered by someone. The resignation itself, as a single strategic event, was covered by nobody.

A stone staircase rising from shadow toward bright daylight

Document vendors

Sell you a template. They do not know your contract, your notice clause, your manager or your timing.

Generalist HR consultancies

Advise the employer. Their commercial relationship is with the company, not with you.

Career coaches

Focus on the arrival. The exit is treated as a formality to get past, not a process to manage.

Employment lawyers

Essential when a matter is genuinely legal — and the wrong first call for a resignation that has not gone wrong yet.

TRC’s position is narrow on purpose. We are not a law firm, an HR consultancy or a career coach. We are the practice that owns the exit — and that brings in independent legal or specialist help, openly and on the record, when the case requires it.

Where exits go wrong in India

Four sources of friction, in every case we see.

  • Notice periods of 30 to 90 daysLong notice is the single biggest source of exit friction in India. It is also the most misunderstood clause in most employment contracts — including the difference between what a contract says, what the employer will settle for, and what is actually enforceable.
  • Bonds, buyouts and recovery clausesTraining bonds, relocation recovery and buyout amounts are routinely quoted at figures nobody has modelled. Many are negotiable. Some are not enforceable as written. Almost none are checked before people agree to them.
  • Documents you are entitled toRelieving letters, experience certificates and full and final settlement are treated as favours rather than obligations. Professionals leave without them and discover the cost at the next background check.
  • Cultural stigmaIn much of India, quitting still reads as disloyalty. That stigma is why people stay in workplaces that are harming them, and why the exit conversation is approached with apology instead of preparation.

The consequence

Resignation is the only major career event that most professionals attempt with no preparation, no advisor and no second opinion.

TRC was founded to make that sentence untrue.
